Equine Therapist
Position Overview:
Boys & Girls Haven is seeking a therapist to provide trauma-informed mental health services utilizing equine and animal-assisted modalities. This position serves youth across residential, Pre-Independent Living, Independent Living, and outpatient programs.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexibility based on client needs, including evenings & weekends)
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individual psychotherapy using equine and animal-assisted modalities
Facilitate therapeutic groups (equine and/or animal-assisted)
Provide family therapy as clinically appropriate
Complete biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with Medicaid, licensing, and organizational standards
Participate in crisis intervention and provide support as needed
Collaboration and Program Integration:
Participate in treatment team meetings
Collaborate with residential, Pre-IL/IL, and outpatient staff to support continuity of care
Attend clinical supervision and required staff meetings
Engage in equine-specific consultation and ongoing professional development
Support integration of equine/animal-assisted principles across programs
Qualifications:
Must meet Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) requirements under Kentucky regulations
Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing therapy to children or adolescents
Experience with equine or animal-assisted therapy preferred
Training in Natural Lifemanship or willingness to obtain training
