Hourly Range $32.50 - $36.75
Role Summary: This position has the responsibility of performing all duties assigned by the Program Director of the appropriate program. The position requires an individual with a wide range of experience to provide therapeutic services to youth and families in residential, pre IL and therapeutic foster care. Services will be provided in accordance with Trauma-Informed Care principles and Evidence Based Practice (EBP) models. Therapists will work with clients who have experienced trauma to help them heal and achieve their goals. Therapists will work in various locations (e.g., schools, offices, homes) however primarily residential program.
Essential Functions: In addition to the expectations outlined in Boys & Girls Haven’s (BGH) policies, procedures, and clinical protocols, essential functions include the following:
- Provide behavioral health services in accordance with best practice guidelines, EBP models, and expectations of funding sources.
- Provide services tailored to each client’s needs, challenges, strengths, lifestyle, and culture, utilizing a trauma-informed approach.
- Be responsive to each client’s treatment needs; When possible, schedule sessions at times that are convenient for them.
- Assist the client in reaching identified goals by providing appropriate, evidence-based, trauma-informed clinical interventions.
- Ensure that the frequency, intensity, and duration of services are commensurate with contract expectations and the EBPs that are utilized.
- Develop crisis plans and provide on-call support as needed.
- Develop an aftercare plan with the client prior to case closure to help maintain progress towards treatment goals.
- Refer clients for additional services as needed.
- Complete all required documentation within 48 hours of providing a service.
- Participate in clinical and programmatic supervision as required by the program and the licensing board.
- Ensure confidentiality of all client information.
- Work with the director to maintain a caseload that meets programmatic needs.
- Meet all trainings requirements established by the agency, the applicable licensing board, and the funding sources.
Unplanned Activities: At BGH, we value teamwork. To meet departmental and organizational goals, the employee is expected to assist with activities that are not formal parts of the role’s essential functions.
Qualifications:
- Education - Graduate degree from an accredited program in a field related to mental health (e.g., counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy).
- Licensure – Fully licensed or provisionally licensed in an applicable discipline (e.g., LCSW, CSW, LPCC, LPCA, LMFT, MFTA). In good standing with the applicable professional board. Active professional liability insurance.
- Experience/Credentials – Two years’ experience providing mental health services to children, teens, adults, and/or families. Experience providing community-based services is a plus.
- Transportation – Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle, and active auto insurance.
- Other - Interact professionally with BGH employees, clients, visitors, government agencies and the public. Maintain confidentiality of all client information. Must be at least 21 years of age and legally able to work in U.S. Successful completion of all background screenings and pre-employment drug screen. Successful negative, post-contingent offer and annual TB screenings.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to: stand, walk and sit; use hands to manually manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to read, write and converse in English. This position requires frequent travel across a regional service area.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a standard administrative office environment as well as clients’ homes and community-based environments such as schools. S/he will encounter BGH clients, staff members, Board members, volunteers, and other members of the community. Travel is required for this position.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Additional Information: The employee will work on a PRN (i.e., as-needed) basis. The primary role of the therapist is to provide direct services to agency clients. On average, time spent on indirect tasks (e.g., paperwork, meetings, travel) should equal 25% of the time spent engaging in direct service.
